How does an air scrubber work?

It draws contaminated air through a multi-stage filter system, typically a pre-filter, a HEPA filter and a carbon filter, capturing particulates and odours before exhausting clean air.

Is an air scrubber the same as a dehumidifier?

No. A dehumidifier removes moisture from the air, while an air scrubber removes particulates and odours. Both are often used together during structural drying and restoration.

When should I use an air scrubber?

Air scrubbers are recommended during fire and smoke restoration, mould remediation, sewage cleanup, demolition and any restoration work that generates airborne dust, soot or contaminants.

Does it remove smoke odour?

Yes. Units with activated carbon filters capture odour-causing molecules, helping to neutralise smoke and other lingering smells during restoration.

Can it filter mould spores?

Yes. HEPA filters capture particles as small as 0.3 microns, which includes the vast majority of mould spores, preventing them from spreading to unaffected areas.
